Rather than thinking of your golf swing as trying to produce clubhead speed from the top, think of the golf swing like cracking a whip. When you crack a whip, you actually conserve energy to start and then stop the handle of the whip in order for the energy to travel up the handle to the tip of the whip. This process of transferring energy is very similar to how you store and release lag in the golf swing.

However, you have to realize that as you begin to crack the whip, you are no longer in control of the end of the whip, so this maneuver must be timed properly. As I mentioned earlier, most golfers "crack the whip" way too early, hence, they lose control over the clubhead as they start the downswing. This lag drill will teach you how to maintain that lag and release it at the proper time in the downswing.
When you flip it, when you don't have that lag that's needed in the golf swing, you have very little control over the club. Think of it as if you were cracking a whip. When you go to crack a whip, at some point you stop the handle's forward momentum so the energy can be transferred to the end of the whip.
You're going to end up with your club face wide open at impact even though you're in a perfect impact position. The fundamentals are key in the golf swing. They're so important. It makes things so much simpler.
Releasing the club properly is something that few golfers do but is the key to effortless power and squaring the clubface through impact. If you've wondered how to hit a draw your entire life, this multi-step drill will make drawing the ball and controlling trajectory simple. The drill is challenging at first, so hang in there, it will take time to perfect and train the movements.
At first, what I do is just make sure they can get into a perfect golf impact position with their left hand only, then we'll typically take some variables out of the swing. I will let them go ahead and stay into their left side's impact position, because these are going to be really short swings. We're not going to have a lot of time to shift over, so preset ourselves on our left side. Then what I'm going to have them do is go back, and start coming down and stopping at impact. Obviously, this is a hard floor so the club can't stick in the ground, but I generally will kind of have them stick the club in the ground, try and stop right at impact.
Work through each piece, and then as you get comfortable, start stacking it into a drill, just like you see here, until your whole golf swing starts to feel like what your drill is. Work on this five minutes, to the perfect release drill, and you'll be able to get a lot of speed, you'll be able to control the club face, you'll put no effort into your golf swing, and you'll start to enjoy the game a lot more as you start to compress the ball and hit it further than you ever have.

"I am 76, and a 25 handicap. Since I began playing golf at age 20, I have purchased more golf clubs (as the old slogan says) than carter has pills. I received my new formula 11X driver with a bit of suspicion, but hopeful. I had no chance to go to the driving range to try it out, had a golf game with my buddies for wednesday 7/29. Got there early to warm up, but only got to hit about 6 practice balls. My usual distance off the tee is 195-205 yards. Stepped up to the first tee, with 12 of my golf group standing around, making wise cracks s about my new driver. BAM... 219 YARDS STRAIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE! I just smiled as I walked to my cart. Kept record of my drives for the round. Shot 90, 7 strokes below my handicap. And averaged 224 yards off the tee! Longest was 258 yards, shortest was 175 (I slipped, LOL) I am a true believer in the product. Perhaps the first time that a club performed as promised. I also ordered a 7 fairway wood, it arrived a day later so anxious to get out next week and try it out too. Thank You Krank Golf!Larry Imoe"

He did so in style on the back nine with a 33 that was tied for the second-best on the day. It completed a perfect 36 holes of golf on the back nine at Sawgrass on the week for Day. Not a single bogey on 10-18, the first time any golfer has ever done that. 2ff7e9595c
